More and more people are choosing to go freelance in this day and age and that’s never a bad thing – but with more and more of us choosing to launch our own beauty brands on the smallest of scales, it’s important to not lose sight of what has worked wonders for even the biggest of brands and lines over the years. When you set up a beauty brand for the first time – what are some of the key factors you should bear in mind?
Firstly, you’re going to need to focus on marketing. This means picking a name that keenly represents you and what you do – will the name work across all markets and on a global scale? Is the name already taken? Beyond this, you should of course consider exactly what your product line aims to do – and what the competition is like already. This means considering your exact audience – your naming and marketing standards are going to depend on who you’re pitching to, whether you’re aiming for a younger market or for those over a certain age. Consider the male/female balance, too – as well as how your product is going to improve their lives.
Always research your market – how does it compare with other brands and services out there? How will you stand to make a difference or to stand out from the crowd? Does your product do something that others in the same category don’t? Consider, too, your trademarking – get your names in early and make sure your interests are protected!
Finally, let’s consider some of the most important aspects of launching a beauty line – how the law stands to impact upon your launch – and how much money and time investment you are going to need to get everything up and running. Always seek legal support before setting up your own brand in this way – and it can’t hurt to get financial backing, either!
This is just a brief look at what you will need to do to set up your own brand – it can be tricky, but with enough passion and focus, you could well go all the way and crack the global market!
